No fear

No Fear

Whilst on holiday in northern France, we found an adventure park which was in the middle of a forest and centred around climbing through the trees via suspended platforms. There were courses for adults and younger kids and as soon as Raph saw the small course, he wanted to get involved, although you could tell he was a little nervous. The instructor put him in a harness & explained how to get onto each obstacle, then left us to it and said we could go around as many times as he liked. Emily, his godfather Phillip and I were all there encouraging him. I think once he got up and on to the first platform and took the first few steps along the wood plank stepping stones, you could see his little face getting more and more excited. He kept asking for help & struggled changing his safety strap to the next obstacles on his 1st run. On his 2nd run, you could see his confidence growing detaching & reattaching his lanyard to the next obstacle & stopping us helping saying "no, I do it" and "no thanks, I fine!"
We stopped for some lunch then but Raph ate hardly anything as he was so keen to get back on. So emily took him round while we ate lunch. Then I took him on his last run as by then he was exhausted. It was a lovely way to spend a morning & really helped Raph's self confidence & independence & it was a lot of fun for all of us.
